The Zuñiga (pronounced zoo-knee-ga) story began when Cecilia Zuñiga Sibelian started preparing homemade, hand- diced salsas for potlucks and family get-together's. Through numerous revisions, she was able to capture the subtle flavors of Old Mexico with contemporary tastes.
Her salsa became a party favorite and many asked for the recipe. On one fateful occasion, a friend of Cecilia requested four containers for a weekend partyand was willing to pay for them. From this innocent request an idea was born.
Our family-owned and operated business (wife, Cecilia; husband, Ken; and son, Edward) was founded in July 2005. We have grown from the occasional weekend party to owning our very own commercial kitchen located in Tigard, Oregon, where we still hand pick and hand dice all our ingredients.
What makes Zuñiga’s salsa taste so good?
Our salsa is also unique. Although mild, inside each container is a fresh serrano chili pepper to chop, slice, dice or simply set aside so you can add the perfectamount of heat to your salsa. Have it HOT or NOT. The choice is yours.
Our salsa is made in small batches. All ingredients are carefully selected and hand-inspected for superior quality. All batches are hand diced and hand-crafted. There are no masking flavors in our salsa. You can see and taste the tomatoes, chiles, onions and cilantro.
In the future, Zuñiga Foods will add a line of freshly made salsas, sauces and unique salad dressings. Our recipes for chili verde, birria, enchilada, and de molcajete as well as a superb fresh guacamole have been planned.
Thank you for trying our product. We sincerely believe you can find no fresher tasting, more flavorful salsa on the market.
